Georgia VINE / VINELink is a free custody-status and notification platform using information from participating agencies. A result may show in custody, released, transferred, or similar agency-fed wording, with an agency and event information. It can alert a registered user to certain changes.
VINE does not create the release event. The originating jail or corrections agency does. It may not include full charges, court history, sentence calculations, transfer paperwork, or the legal reason for release. Use it to receive or check a status event. Use the Pickens Sheriff for the county release entry, the court for the order, and GDC for state-prison status.

Name-only searches can produce similar people. Use the booking number, offender ID, date of birth, or agency when the platform displays them. If the person moved to GDC, search the state corrections record as well. A transfer out of the Pickens jail is not a community release.

VINE wording can differ by feed. Do not replace it with a broader claim. “Released” from one agency may be followed by another custodian. “Transferred” explicitly means custody moved. If the event reason or destination is absent, obtain the agency record.
Register Georgia VINE Alerts
After selecting the correct record, choose the available notification registration. The platform may offer phone, email, text, or another method. Enter the requested contact information, complete verification, and create or confirm a PIN if the current flow requires one. Phone systems may use a PIN to confirm receipt and stop repeat calls.

The statewide portal is the first source for Georgia custody notification. The national portal can route users to supported jurisdictions. Neither portal is the custodian of a Pickens court order. For a county release record, use Pickens Sheriff NextRequest. For a state offender, use GDC.

Pickens VINE Coverage Check
The Pickens JailTracker application has a public VINE configuration endpoint. It reports that VINE is not enabled and provides no site or agency ID in that configuration. This does not shut down Georgia VINE statewide. It means the public Pickens JailTracker handoff cannot be promised.
When no Pickens result appears, search the current roster to see whether the person is displayed now. If absent, request the release entry and check the court case. Call the Sheriff at 706-253-8900 for routing. If the record shows a transfer to GDC, another county, BOP, or ICE, use that receiving system. This fallback is stronger than repeating a VINE search that lacks local coverage.
Verify a VINE Release
A VINE event should be verified with the agency named in the result. Ask for the release date, time, reason, and transfer destination if applicable. For Pickens, match the person to a booking number and court case. The court can explain bond, disposition, sentence, or dismissal. The jail can confirm the physical exit.

Check the source that owns the question. A notification service cannot supply every court or jail field, and a current roster cannot serve as release history.
Georgia VINE Data Timing
VINE depends on agency feeds. A booking, transfer, or release can take time to reach the public result or alert. No Pickens-specific publication cadence is documented. Record the time of a search and avoid promising instant notice.
If status matters now, contact the originating facility. For a planned future state release, distinguish a projected date or tentative parole month from an actual release event. Registering an alert can supplement direct checks but should not replace them.
Write down the exact status wording, record identifier, agency, and search time. “Transferred,” “released,” and “not in custody” can describe different events. When no destination appears, request it from the source agency before stating where the person went.
Georgia Registry Is Different
Georgia VINE and the Georgia Sex Offender Registry serve different purposes. The registry applies only to people with registration duties and shows registration information. It is not a general release-notification system. A person can be in VINE but not the registry, or on the registry while not in custody.
Use Georgia Sex Offender Registry only for a registrant. Do not infer recent Pickens release from registry presence or address data.
Preserve Georgia VINE Notices
Keep the registration confirmation, record identifier, agency name, and the date of each alert. If a phone notification asks for a PIN, use the current platform instructions and do not share the PIN. A saved alert helps establish what the service reported, but it is still not the underlying agency record.
When an alert conflicts with a roster or court entry, do not choose the most recent screen automatically. Ask the agency that supplied the VINE event to confirm it. Then ask the Sheriff or GDC about its own custody field. Different systems can post at different times or describe different custody boundaries.
Pickens Release Alert Timeline
A clear timeline begins with the booking, continues through any transfer, and ends with the confirmed release from the last custodian. Place the VINE event beside the jail timestamp and court order. If the person moved from Pickens to GDC, the county release time is the transfer start, while the later state release belongs to GDC.
For a person released on bond, the court order can explain conditions and the Sheriff entry can show processing. For a person released from state prison to parole, the Parole Board and DCS records add the supervision stage. VINE may notify about an event in either path only when the participating agency sends it.
